FAQS

  • Consulting with ISG prior to hardware purchases

It is very important to consult with the ISG staff prior to your purchase, so you can be sure that the system you wish to acquire is supported and it is the correct hardware and software upon your necessities.

    Inventory-moving computers

You are welcome to move systems yourself as long as you please inform the ISG where they are going to be located and whether that system will remain on our network or not. Keeping track of active systems for security and network accessibility is a must and we appreciate your help.

    What is a Teacup?

It is a Problem Report interface used by the ISG staff to track computing problems within the EAS department. When a PR is submitted it goes directly to the ISG staff where it will get assigned to the appropriate technician for prompt resolution.

How to submit a Problem Report?

To submit a PR go to the home page and click on the TEACUP button. It will take you to a short form where you fill out the following:

    1. Select your name from the drop down menu
    2. Enter a short synopsis of the problem
    3. Enter a detailed description of the problem (If you are a student you should list your faculty advisor in the drop down menu and include     your name, email address, phone number, and office location -building and room number- in the PR so that we can get in touch with you.)
    4. Select the owner of the equipment ( if you don't know the name, select "Department")
    5. Select your operating system
    6. click on Submit

When you submit a PR an email with a PR # assigned to it (example: PR 2003040108) will be sent to the name selected in the first drop down. You can use that PR number to track your request in the future. This way there will not be a need to re-submit the same problem. Just refer to the PR # that was assigned to the problem in any future email with ISG.
